The International Women’s Day celebration at Don Bosco Hospet on 6 March 2024 was a remarkable success. The event was organised by Don Bosco Centre for Social Action (DBCSA) Hospet (BREADS’ partner) in collaboration with the Don Bosco TARUNI Women Development Society. A significant turnout of 1600 women from TARUNI’s Self Help Groups made the celebration vibrant and meaningful.
The event commenced at 11:30 am with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome speech from Fr. Peter John, Director DBCSA. Inspirational speeches from the dignitaries such as Fr. Shalbin, Vice Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore, Fr. Roshan D’Sa, Rector, DB Hospet, uplifted the spirits of the attendees. Cultural performances by the women added vibrance to the celebration. A highlight of the programme was the awarding of prizes to five children who achieved distinction in their 10th and PUC exams. The celebration concluded on a delightful note with a sumptuous meal prepared by the dedicated staff of Don Bosco TARUNI.
Several other local dignitaries who attended the celebration to encourage the women and their activities were Sr. Savia, Coordinator-TARUNI, Mrs. Hanumanthamma, President- TARUNI Self Help Group, Mrs. Sherlin, Trainer-HDFC Training Centre, Mr. Kotresh, Manager-BDCC Bank, Mr. Uday Bekkel, Programme Coordinator-Azim Premji Foundation, Mr. H.M. Nagaraj, Divisional Manager-Sangha Mithra, and the Salesians of Don Bosco Hospet.
