Scholarship day, was simply a day to celebrate the fact that 100 deserving children from Karnataka and Kerala were able to continue their education for another year, thanks to the Amis du Père Guézou (ADPG) from France. Over the past two years, through BREADS, ADPG has supported the education of vulnerable children from economically deprived backgrounds, many of them belonging to single-parent families.
On 27 April 2024, the children and their parents assembled in Don Bosco Provincial House in Bangalore to meet with the visiting ADPG representative, Ms. Ophelie Bussiere. Fr. P.S George (Executive Director of BREADS), Fr. Jitto Joy (Assistant Director of BREADS), and Fr. Deepu Mathew (Director of DB BEST Academy) were also present on the occasion.
The programme started with a prayer dance followed by an introduction by Fr. George PS. There were dance performances and sharing of experiences. Children played games conducted by Mr. Sebastian and won prizes. Children also presented thank you notes to Ms Bussiere for their donors. The programme concluded with everyone enjoying tasty snacks.
The scholarships provided a much-needed boost to the educational journeys of these 100 children, and are a testament to the collective efforts of ADPG, BREADS, and the individuals present; to invest in the futures of these young minds.
