On 19 November 2023, Makkalotsava (children’s festival), a joyous programme for the children of the evening tuition centre was conducted at CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, in collaboration with Bangalore Rural Educational And Development Society (BREADS). The event commenced at 9:30 am with a grand inauguration ceremony. Distinguished dignitaries present at the event included Fr. Steven Lawrence and Fr. Sebastian—Director and Administrator of CHITHRA Don Bosco respectively, Fr. Joe and Fr. Benny Christuraj—Principal and Vice-Principal of Don Bosco Degree College respectively, Mr. Chikkanna—Taluk Coordinator of KHPT, Mr. Thippeswamy, Member of Karnataka Child Protection Commission (KSCPCR), Mr. Prabhakar, President of Chitradurga Child Welfare Committee, Dr Swamy-Environment Lover, Master Chirag and Miss Kavitha—representatives of the children.
To add an element of fun, chance games were organised for the children, providing them with a delightful and entertaining experience. The children actively participated, played games, and received gifts, contributing to the joyous atmosphere of the event. The programme also featured group singing and dance competitions, allowing the children to showcase their talents and creativity. About 450 children from 15 tuition centres actively took part in the programme, and all were given gifts as tokens of appreciation.
On this special occasion, Ms. Arpitha, former leader of the Child Rights Club and tuition teacher at CHITHRA Don Bosco, was honoured with the YaR Children’s Award for Outstanding Services. This recognition stands as a testament to her exemplary contributions.
