CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga organised a virtual meeting with the Block Education Officers (BEOs), Block Resource Centres (BRC), Cluster Resource Persons (CRP) of the Tumakuru and Madhugiri divisions of Tumakuru district on 19 and 20 January 2021. The meetings intended to introduce the activities, scope, and objectives of the Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM) programme. It also focused on seeking the cooperation of the Education department, BEOs, BRCs, and CRPs in providing child rights education, forming Child Rights Clubs (CRCs), conducting workshops for teachers and students, campaigns and awareness on child rights in the government schools of Tumakuru district.
Fr. Sonychen Mathew-Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga cordially welcomed the participants and explained the objectives of the gathering. Thereafter, the coordinator and social activists of the CREAM programme explained the activities of CREAM in schools and gram panchayats. During the meeting, Miss Vaishali and Master Prasanna, President and Secretary of District Nisarga Child Rights Federation, Chitradurga, shared their experiences of being part of the CRCs in their respective schools. The meeting was possible due to the wholehearted cooperation of Mr. Nunjaiah – Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Tumakuru division, and Mr. Ravanasiddappa – DDPI, Madhugiri division. The CREAM programme was well received by the stakeholders who agreed to extend their cooperation to provide child rights education in the government schools of Tumakuru district.
The meeting for the Tumakuru division was organised on 19 January 2021 with the participation of BEOs, BRCs, CRPs from Tumakuru, Thuruvekere, Tiptur, Gubbi, Kunigal and Chikkanayakanahalli taluks. Likewise, the meeting for the Madhugiri division held on 20 January 2021 including Koratagere, Pavagada, Sira, and Madhugiri taluks.
