BREADS and the Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DB JPN), continue their mission to empower youth across Kerala by facilitating meaningful employment opportunities. In collaboration with the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM), Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), Deepika News and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), two significant job fairs were organised in May 2025 at Kattanam and Thrissur, providing a vital platform for hundreds of young job seekers.
Organised by MCYM of the Eparchy of Mavelikara in collaboration with Don Bosco JPN and CII, the job fair at Pope Pius XI Higher Secondary School, Kattanam, was a targeted initiative to address youth unemployment in the region. With 18 companies from sectors such as finance, ITES, manufacturing, retail and sales, the fair attracted 113 walk-in candidates, of which, an impressive 92 were selected. The event was inaugurated with a welcome by Mr. Jobin G. John, General Secretary, followed by motivating addresses from Mr. Philip Vallikunnam, Deputy Tehsildar of Konni and other stakeholders, including Fr. Bijo Thomas, Youth Director of MCYM; Mr. Roshan Varghese, MCYM President and Fr. Gabriel SDB, National Director, DB JPN. Sessions on employment portals and skill-building tools like the Jobs DBI app were conducted by Mr. Sai Dhanesh (CII Palakkad) and Mr. Harish (Programme Manager, DB JPN)
In Thrissur, the KCYM Archdiocese, Deepika News and DB JPN hosted a mega job fair at St. Joseph Model Higher Secondary School. With 32 recruitment partners offering over 1,500 job opportunities, the fair registered 994 candidates, with 412 attending in person, resulting in 119 on-the-spot selections and 273 candidates shortlisted. The fair was inaugurated in the presence of Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, Fr. Geo Cheradai (KCYM Director) and Fr. Biju Nandikara and Fr. Johnpaul Chemmannur (School Principals). Volunteers from KCYM and school staff played a crucial role in coordinating the event with the JPN staff.
Both job fairs reflected the power of collective action. The events not only connected youth with employment but also raised awareness on long term career development. Candidates and recruiters alike, praised the professionalism, coordination and supportive atmosphere in the job fairs.
By collaborating with faith-based organisations, industry leaders and educational institutions, BREADS and DB JPN are making strides toward a future where every young person has access to dignified employment.
