Don Bosco Sports Hub in Kattappana organised the Don Bosco Cup Football Tournament on 4 January 2026, focusing on anti-drug awareness and positive youth engagement for the under-17 children from the Don Bosco centres as well as the wider community. The tournament demonstrated the value of BREADS’ Sports for Change programme using football as a tool for awareness, empowerment and community connection.
Twenty teams participated in the tournament, making it a vibrant and competitive event. Throughout the day, the field reflected strong sportsmanship and mutual respect among players, regardless of whether they came from internal or external teams. After a series of keenly contested matches, team Kattappana Venser emerged as the winners of the tournament, while team Messenger City, Santigram secured the runner-up position.
The presence of Ms Manju Satheesh, Councillor of Kattappana municipality, along with the Manager and Principal of Don Bosco Central School added encouragement and support for the young participants. Their interaction with the teams reinforced the message that sports can guide adolescents away from substance abuse and towards responsible living.
