DBPA Hospet

The project “Don Bosco professional Academy (DBPA) for skill training for marginalized youth in Hospet Taluk of Karnataka state, India” started officially on September 2013 by beginning with the construction works of the Institute and completed by December 2016. In the mean time skill training were started in 5 skill domains and trained 371 youth from 2015 to 2016. After making Tangible impacts in the lives of hundreds of marginalized youth, children and women from Hospet taluk in Bellary district and also the establishment of skill training centre at the premise of Don Bosco Hospet enabled to provide quality skill training to more than 175 rural and urban youth each year.

  • A well functioning non formal vocational training centre was established at Hospet to provide quality skill trainings for a minimum of 175 marginalized youth every year.
  • 371 youth have successfully completed their non-formal skill training in 5 domains within the project period. Among them, 282 (76%) were already placed in jobs or started small business units. Their earnings are now more than Rs. 8000 per month.
  • Empowered the underprivileged youth through improved skills, knowledge and recognized their talents to have access to decent employment and ensure poverty reduction in vulnerable communities.
  • All trainees have completed “Life Coping Skill Training” that helped to unfold their personalities.
  • Enhanced individual’s employability and ability to adapt to changing technologies and labour market demands.
  • Created opportunities for all to acquire skills throughout life, especially for youth, women and disadvantaged groups.
  • School dropouts (leaving the school before completing the XII standard), child labour and out of school youth were given alternative education coupled with skill development opportunities to bring them into economic and social mainstream.
  • Short term, market oriented, demand driven programmes were provided in a flexible delivery framework suited to the characteristics and circumstances of the target groups.
