In Kottayam district, BREADS is partnering with the Oommen Chandy Foundation to take this initiative to all the children and youth in need.  Sitting MLA of Kottayam constituency, Mr. Chandy Oommen, was present on the occasion. He highlighted the transformative power of sports in shaping the lives of young people. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of BREADS, Don Bosco School Puthuppally and the Oommen Chandy Foundation in making this initiative a reality in the region.

Bangalore Rural Education and Development Society (BREADS), has been empowering children and youth across Karnataka and Kerala over the years through various creative interventions. Its latest initiative, Sports for Change, aims to engage young minds through football and other sports-based interventions, to channel their energy and talents into creative pursuits and careers, through sports and mentorship across five districts in Kerala: Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kasaragod, Idukki, and Kottayam.

The Sports for Change programme will complement BREADS’ Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring (DREAM) programme to prevent and treat substance addictions and poor mental health among young people, by promoting positive personality development, teamwork, discipline, and social inclusion through the power of sports in Kerala.
