Beat those exam blues – Beyond Books!!!

On 15 December 2024, Don Bosco PU College, in partnership with BREADS Bangalore, hosted the Don Bosco Talent Extract Test (DBTET) at their campus, bringing together 160+ schools and 3500+ students from both government and private schools in Chitradurga. The primary goal of this initiative was to assist students in preparing for the upcoming SSLC board exams, providing them with valuable resources and guidance for academic success.

In alignment with a holistic educational approach, the BREADS-supported MINDS initiative, with CHITHRA Don Bosco, emphasised the significance of emotional well-being during the exam preparation period.  Interactive session for students provided practical advice on time management, managing exam stress, and enhancing exam readiness. The session emphasised the importance of maintaining balance between academics and life. Over 3500 students attended, with 1000+ students actively participating in discussions, exercises, and activities aimed at improving study habits and handling stress effectively.

Parents also attended sessions aimed at helping them understand how to support their children’s mental health throughout this challenging time. With the growing presence of digital devices in children’s lives, excessive screen time has become a concern. While technology has many benefits, its overuse can have detrimental effects on children’s health, development, and academic performance. In this context, the parents’ session focused on understanding screen addiction, its warning signs, and practical strategies to manage and reduce screen time. The session was highly engaging, with 350 parents actively participating and exchanging insights.

A key takeaway from the workshops was the importance of prioritising mental health along with academic achievement. By fostering a balanced approach, students were encouraged to approach their exams with a positive mindset, while parents were provided with effective strategies to offer emotional support to their children.

Through this well-rounded initiative, featuring engaging workshops on time management, handling exam stress, and career guidance, both students and parents gained essential tools and strategies to navigate the upcoming board exams with confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
