Celebrates Human Rights Day
Don Bosco PYaR celebrated International Human Rights Day at Rajapur, Gulbarga, on 10th November 2014. “Instances of human rights violation are being reported almost on a daily basis in the newspapers today. Everyone should join hands to ensure that human rights are not violated”, said Mr. Bharatesh Shilvantar, DCPU Gulbarga, in the inaugural address. Mr. Nagaraj, Youth Leader, Rajapur Slum Area, said that human rights should be celebrated every day.
The celebration of the International Human Rights Day not only created awareness about the basic human rights as per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN but also included brief sessions on human rights, child rights and awareness on POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act 2012.
Fr. Prasad SDB, Project Director at Don Bosco, Salins Sukruthraj Coordinator in CREAM, Basavaraj Javali a Social Activist and Nagjyoti spoke on the occasion. Over 150 slum dwellers and project staff were present for the program. Ramesh a team member of CHILDLINE, compered the program while Renuka a tuition teacher in Rajapur delivered the welcome speech. Deepashree a Social Activist proposed the vote of thanks.
