The Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring (DREAM) programme team in Kottayam organised a two-day residential leadership training programme for school students in collaboration with Don Bosco Puthupally & VIMUKTHI Mission Kottayam on 28 – 29 April 2022 at Chaitanya Pastoral Centre, Thellakom. The training programme benefitted 34 students from 17 schools in Kottayam district.
The children were trained on leadership skills and were made aware of substance abuse, its personal and social consequences etc. The trained student leaders will become “ambassadors” in the selected schools to take leadership and initiate actions for the prevention of substance abuse in the schools.
The programme was inaugurated by Mrs Nissa P S (Senior Civil Police Officer, Ettumanoor) and presided over by Fr Dominic Kaniyantharayil sdb (Vice Principal, Don Bosco Central School, Puthupally). The keynote address was given by Mr Robimon P N (Civil Excise Officer, Ettumanoor). The inaugural ceremony was followed by icebreaking sessions and classes on leadership skills.
