The people of Vellarada village and Amboori panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala can now breathe easy! With the inauguration of a dedicated oxygen plant on 11 September 2021, their local 300-bedded Ruckmoni Memorial Devi Hospital now has 100 oxygen beds at their service, should they need them during COVID or any other emergencies.
Thanks to BREADS Bangalore and the support of its partners Bosconet and GiveIndia, the installation of a 180 lpm plant that can support 100 oxygen beds (6o reserved for COVID care and 40 beds for other critical care) was made possible. The oxygen plant is expected to have a lifespan of 25 years with regular maintenance. BREADS has also provided the hospital with essential equipment and systems for secondary oxygen supply and cylinders. These life-saving provisions will enable the necessary care for local citizens and tribals without them having to rush to the cities for urgent life-support.
