Ruha’s Kitchen, an initiative by #WELiVE Alappuzha under BREADS Bangalore and Don Bosco Alappuzha, was inaugurated by Mr. P.P Chitharanjan, MLA Alappuzha District in the presence of Fr Thomas Meckattuparambil, Rector, DB Alappuzha; fathers, friends, and well-wishers on 7th July 2021.
The idea of Ruha’s Kitchen, a seafood restaurant, originated from a group of 5 women from the fishing community in Alappuzha who have strived much for a sustainable livelihood. This program is supported by SAF (Society for Assistance to Fisherwomen), under Kerala State Fisheries Department. WELiVE Alapuzzha successfully selected Mercy Sebastian, Kochuthressiya, Gracy Michael, Alphonsa, and Anila Josy to form this group and assisted them with all necessary paperwork and documentation.
