We are delighted to introduce ‘Ruha’s Kitchen’! This is an initiative under the WELiVE Project by Breads Bangalore and Don Bosco Alappuzha. The idea of Ruha’s Kitchen, a seafood restaurant, originated from a group of 5 women in Alappuzha and is supported by SAF (Society for Assistance to Fisherwomen), under Kerala State Fisheries Department. Theeramythri, a flagship program of SAF, mandates the empowerment of fisherwomen hailing from various coastal villages of Kerala and offers several livelihood programs. Ruha’s Kitchen is a part of it!
WELivE Alapuzzha successfully selected these 5 women to form this group and assisted them with all necessary paperwork and documentation. These women were also provided with skill training on group management, production, and financial literacy workshops by the Fisheries department. Due to Kerala’s pandemic constraints and restrictions, the restaurant is finally expected to be inaugurated in July by Alappuzha District MLA- P.P Chithranjan.
Do support this team of 5 determined women from the fishing community who have strived much for a sustainable livelihood.
