Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Angadikadavu, Kannur, Kerala joined hands with the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) to offer tele-counselling for the COVID-19 patients of the district. Thirty six students from the Department of Social Work and 15 students from the MSc Counselling Psychology department have volunteered their services to the DMHP. The student volunteers are trained by the DMHP and are assigned to various panchayats/municipalities/corporations in Kannur district to counsel Covid-19 patients. The student volunteers enquire about the well-being of the Covid patients on a daily basis, address their concerns, and extend all possible help to them. The student volunteers report to the DMHP daily, which helps the DMHP to prioritise the patients who require immediate care. Similarly, the student also update their respective departments in the college about their work once in three days.
