The Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP), Kollam introduced the E-Auto service- a green energy initiative for the distribution of food to the Vishappinu Vida project beneficiaries in the coastal Kollam district. The appointment of the new driver Ms. Rini is another feather in FCDP’s cap; underscoring its commitment to women’s empowerment and upliftment. Promoting and mainstreaming female drivers was one means of FCDP’s commitment to women empowerment. A meaningful function was held at Vishappinu Vida office on 30 September 2019, during which, Mr. Franklin, the hitherto auto driver was congratulated and appreciated for his service. Since the launch of the project two and half years ago, he had faithfully carried a fresh meal to the most downtrodden adults in the community every day. Mr. Ansel Raymond, Member- Executive Committee, presented Mr. Franklin with a gift in the name of Visappinu Vida; after which Mr. Franklin handed over the steering to Ms. Rini as she drives the electric auto and the project to greener pastures.
