Empowering women to be self-reliant, independent and self-sufficient is always been one of the objectives of BREADS and many actions have been directed to achieve this goal. The training for SHGs in various districts in Karnataka and Kerala state is an evidence for the same. On 13 June 2018, Chithra Don Bosco gathered 20 self-enterprising women from the rural villages. The intention of the gathering was to support the women to start sheep rearing by lending them loan amount with the help of different stakeholders. Again on 25 June the women from Vinayaka SHG, Chitradurga was issued loan amount for 13 members as an attempt to assist them to start poultry farm. The initiatives are expected to make the women financially self-reliant and to earn a regular income.
