Theeradesa Mahila Society (TMS) along with the Fishermen Community Development Programme, and the Rotary Club of Quilon, celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March 2023. Smt. Anju Meera Birla (Sub-Judge, Kollam) inaugurated the public meeting held at the Rotary Club Hall, Beach Road, Kollam.
The theme for this year’s Women’s Day celebrations was “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of using technology and innovation to promote gender equality and empower women in all aspects of their lives. The celebration highlighted how technology can be leveraged in education, employment, healthcare, and political participation, to create a more gender-equal world.
The Women’s Day celebrations provided an opportunity for individuals and organisations to launch new initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women through technology and innovation. The event was attended by around 400 women who participated in various activities and games organised by TMS members.
The cultural programmes performed by the TMS members added colour and flavour to the Women’s Day celebrations. The event was an enjoyable experience for all the women who attended, and it served as a reminder of the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The celebration showcased the power of technology and innovation in promoting gender equality and empowering women, and it inspired many women to take action in their own lives and communities.
