The Quality Engineering team from Accenture visited the BREADS-supported Swatantra Nagara centre on 13 December 2025 and had an enriching interaction with the children, as part of their CSR engagement,. The team was warmly welcomed by Fr. Sunil, Director of the Social Service Guild (SSG), which runs this centre and nine others in the KR Puram area of Bangalore. Fr. Sunil shared the history of the centre and SSG, outlining its inception, the vision behind its establishment, and the inspiration that motivates benefactors to support them.
Nearly 50 children from classes 1-10 regularly use the centre which offers them supplementary education in the evening, with trained teachers and mentors to help them with their daily studies and homework. Nutritious food is provided on alternative days to supplement the children’s nourishment. The community has volunteered the space to conduct the classes to support SSG’s services for their children.
Most of the children enrolled at the centre are from families where the primary breadwinners are daily wage earners or domestic workers. Most of the parents in the community are unable to help their children in their studies and so rely greatly on the Swatantra Nagara centre to enable them with continued access to education at nominal or no cost. During their visit, the Accenture team explained the purpose of their engagement and interacted with the children, emphasising the importance of education as a solid foundation for a better future. The visit concluded with the distribution of study materials to the children, contributing positively to their educational needs.
