A step forward for Advocacy

The Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM) staff in Davangere district organised a follow-up training for Child Rights Clubs (CRC) members at the Government Higher Primary School, Kadajji village, on 25th June, 2019. The training was conducted by Mr. Rajappa M, a CREAM social activist, accompanied by the social work students of Kuvempu University.  The monthly meeting of the CRC members was also conducted.

The children were educated exclusively on child rights, child protection mechanisms and the various Acts that shield children from various kinds of atrocities, exploitations and violation of child rights. The children were also encouraged to speak up on issues they have been facing in the community, school, family and in their daily circumstances. The children discussed the issues and their possible solutions. At the end of the discussion, they wrote a memorandum for the construction of separate toilets for boys and provision of drinking water  by digging a bore well in the school. Under the able guidance of the social activist, the social work students and the teachers, the children submitted the memorandum to the Grama Panchayat President and the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO).
