BREADS was happy to welcome Fr. Sudhakar SDB, representative of Misean Cara (Ireland), on a monitoring and evaluation visit of MC-supported projects—Child Safety Net (CSN) and Women Empowerment through Livelihood and Entrepreneurship (WELivE) in Karnataka.
Between 31 July – 4 August 2025, Fr. Sudhakar embarked on a comprehensive field visit to the project locations in Davanagere, Chitradurga, and Mysuru to assess the progress and impact of the work on the ground, in alignment with the intended outcomes of the project. He was warmly welcomed at the BREADS office in Bangalore
BREADS was happy to report that under the Child Safety Net (CSN) initiative, which aims to rehabilitate 900 vulnerable children in three districts through education, family reintegration, and holistic child protection mechanisms, the Don Bosco partners in Mysuru and Kalaburagi achieved their goals (303 children each), while 282 children were rescued and rehabilitated in Davanagere district. Fr. Sudhakar interacted with the children, reviewed the support structures in place, and appreciated the commitment of the local project coordinators towards ensuring child safety and reintegration.
The WELivE project in Karnataka has been working towards the promotion of 120 women entrepreneurs. Fr. Sudhakar engaged with several beneficiaries who shared their transformative journeys from marginalisation to self-reliance: thanks to the skill development, financial literacy, and livelihood support provided by the project through training programmes.
The visit included detailed review sessions with project teams and coordinators of child protection policies and other policies of the implementing partner as well as on-site assessments of the interventions. Fr. Sudhakar acknowledged the effectiveness, community impact, and integrity with which the project goals are being pursued. His presence and valuable feedback have further strengthened the project teams’ resolve to continue striving for excellence in serving vulnerable children and women.
BREADS expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Misean Cara for its unwavering support, and to Fr. Sudhakar for his time, encouragement, and critical insights that contribute immensely to the effective and impactful implementation of the CSN and WELivE projects.
