The message imbibed through performance art

Puppet show is an important medium to disseminate knowledge and awareness on social issues. It is considered as one of the simplest, innovative and inexpensive medium to convey and spread awareness and this has been very popular among people. Very interestingly Don Bosco Pyar, Kalaburagi district uses the puppet show in schools and villages of different taluks of Kalaburagi district to create awareness on social issues related to child rights especially on child labour. DB Pyar, Kalaburgi organized the puppet show in collaboration with CWC (Child Welfare Committee), Childline, CREAM (Child Rights Education and Action Movement), Missing Child Bureau (MCB) on 23 June 2018 at Kittu Rani Chennamma Residential School at Aurad (B), Kalaburagi.

Creating awareness on child protection, prevention of Child rights violations and child safety being the primary concern, the team explained the concept of child rights, the different systems that exist for the protection of children’s rights and the correct channel to contact for help when in need of help. The team interaction with the children gave them a platform to clarify their doubts related to social issues like child labour, child marriages, school dropouts etc. The Puppet show at the end conveyed the message expressed in words through the performance art which attracted the attention of children. The puppet show characteristically used the storytelling mode using the actions and gestures acted out by the puppets and the voice synchronized with the actions. The puppet show conveyed the message against Child labour and portrayed how a child at work could be rescued. The message that education is very necessary for each and every one in order to improve knowledge, way of living, social and economic status in life and education as the right of a child was enacted intensively.
