The Self-Help Groups play a vital role in the economic development and sustainability of women in the rural areas. Its activities are oriented towards empowerment of women in the communities through income generation initiatives and awareness programmes. Through such platform many women have raised to the level of entrepreneurs thus beating poverty, illiteracy and all odds. Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM), Davangere always highly regarded the upliftment of rural women to sustainability and development and contributed its best towards the goal. The women folks from the rural villages of Davangere had the opportunity to attend two days production skill training under the project “Sustained Income for Rural Women through Entrepreneurial activities and Social Empowerment”. The training was conducted on 28th and 29th of December 2018. 43 SHG members were part of the training. The training intended to boost the small scale business initiatives by women, to improve the morale, confidence and enhance the skills and knowledge. The training was also to equip the participants with motivation and efforts to embark business units for sustainability and regular income. The training sessions were animated by Dr. Giriraj, Veterinary, Harapanahalli Taluk and Dr. Dharmaraj, Veterinary, Kanchikere village and Mr. Attigere Devaraj, farmer and entrepreneur. The sessions covered the following topics- dairy farming, poultry farming, sheep and goat rearing, setting up dairy farms, financial options available with government and banks, marketing possibilities and caring of livestock. The real output of the training will be reflected when the women take the step forward to imply the knowledge learned.
