On 20th February 2019, 74 students were graduated while the new set of 91 is enrolled to be skilled to professionalism by the Don Bosco BEST Academy, Bangalore. By 2030 it is expected that a third of the world’s working age population (between 15 – 59 years) will be from India. This makes for a very large target population for skills training and the skills and knowledge are driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. The Don Bosco BEST Academy at Lingarajpuram, Bangalore has been training the marginalized youth to meet the prospects of the competent workforce since 2016. In continuation of the mission, the Certification of batch 7 and the Inauguration ceremony of batch 8 was organised on 20th February 2019 at DB BEST Academy.
The ceremony was enriched by the presence of the important dignitaries namely, Fr. M.K George SDB, Rector of DB Provincial House Bangalore, Fr. Jose Koyickal, Vice Provincial, Mr. Manoj, State Project Coordinator NSQF, Mr. Amuthan, Practice lead, Lancet Software India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, Fr. Joy Nedumparambil, Executive Director BREADS, Mr. Martin, Netherlands, Fr. Cyril John Edamana, Director DB BEST Academy and Mr. Kennedy. S, the Coordinator of DB BEST Academy. The ceremony started in prayerful ambience and followed by the address of the gathering done by Fr. Cyril John. The inauguration of the new batch was marked by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and the felicitation was done by Fr. Jose Koyickal, Fr. M.K George and Mr. Martin. The presidential address was done by Fr. Joy Nedumparambil. Three students were selected and awarded the best student’s award from each domain based on their attendance, discipline and performance during the course. A total of 74 students have graduated from batch 7 with 34 in Hospitality, 17 in BPO and 23 in Retail management. The placement of the students is also a major concern and priority while 68 (91%) of students from the batch 7 are already placed in different sectors and the new batch 8 is already in action with 91 students enrolled. Among the 91 students, 34 have opted for hospitality, 31 retail management and 26 for BPO as their areas of interest. The new batch of students from Retail management also conducted a ‘Dessert Carnival Fest’ on the occasion as part of their practical training. The whole day was made memorable for the passing out students with games, activities and fun filled moments to cherish as they opted to take a step ahead to the bigger world awaiting them.
