The skill trainings by BREADS have always strived towards increasing capacity and capability of existing system to ensure equitable access to all the youth in employment. Thus every action and strategic plans were directed towards achieving the same for the marginalized youth of the nation. Don Bosco Child Labour Mission at Davangere (DBCLM) is ready for its new endeavour to impart skill training for the marginalised youth in IT& ITES to create a pool of skilled youth in Davangere district. The new project titled “HSBC skills for life” supported by BREADS Bangalore and Swades Foundation was inaugurated on 12th March 2019 at Davangere.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Fr. Cyril Sagayaraj, Rector, Fr. Jose Joseph, Administrator and Fr. Aloysius Santiago SDB. The occasion started with a prayer song by Ms. Shruti and Mr. Manja Naik, Coordinator MCB welcomed the gathering. Fr. Cyril Sagayaraj delivered the presidential address and Fr. Aloysius gave the inaugural speech and through his words motivated the youth to grab and make best use of the great opportunity opened before them. Ms. Hasina, student, in her felicitation speech appreciated DBCLM for embracing all students without discrimination on any grounds such as religion, caste, class, creed, language, gender and further quoted an example of a religious organisation imparting skill training to only their religious group. The new batch has been enrolled with 30 students where 6 boys and 24 boys have come forward to equip themselves with skills for the competing employment world. The course is designed to cover basic computer skills with tally, excel etc and in addition provided with spoken English and life skills training. The course will follow the same syllabus as prescribed by DB Tech programme. The project is expected to reach out to a minimum of 120 youth and provided employment through placement services. Thus the youth, both girls and boys are strengthened and empowered to live a dignified life. The faculties were introduced by Mr. Chetan Dsouza, Coordinator of Skill Training and concluded by Mr. Thomas, student with the vote of thanks.
